Martin Fuchs takes sublime win in Basel's Grand Prix
The international five star show in Basel delivered some exciting show jumping sport today. The first CSI5* Grand Prix of the year saw a total of 45 combinations at the start from which 15 returned for the second round.

Every combination took with it its points of the first round in this 1.60m Longines Grand Prix of Basel. France's 'speedy gonzales', Simon Delestre was the first to set a double clear round aboard the 13-year-old Chesall Zimequest (by Casall). The French show jumping rider crossed the finish in 41.91 seconds and was shortly after beat by local home-rider, Werner Muff.

Muff and his 10-year-old KWPN-gelding, Daimler (by Canturano) stopped the timer at 39.64 seconds. Eventually it was Martin Fuchs who took victory. Aboard his Cornet Obolensky-son, Clooney, Fuchs crossed the finish in 38.70 seconds.

Werner Muff and Simon Delestre completed the stage while Belgium's Niels Bruynseels followed in a fourth place with the 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare by Malito de Reve, Gancia de Muze. Hans-Dieter Dreher finished fifth with Berlinda (by Berlin).
